Questions

Frequently asked.

Is OurFold free?

Yes. OurFold is free to use. There are no ads, and we don't sell your data.

Does OurFold work offline?

Yes — once you install it to your home screen. Installing puts the app and both full Bible translations onto your device, so reading, praying and journalling all keep working with no connection at all.

Used as an ordinary browser tab you never installed, OurFold will often still open offline, but the browser is free to clear that copy whenever it wants space. If the offline part matters to you — a flight, a hospital, a patchy signal — install it. Here's how.

How do I install OurFold on my phone?

Android: open ourfold.net in Chrome and tap Install OurFold at the top of the page, or use Chrome's menu → Install app.

iPhone or iPad: open ourfold.net in Safari (it has to be Safari), tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Computer: tap Install OurFold in Chrome, Edge or Brave, or use the install icon in the address bar.

There's no app store step, and nothing to pay.

Do I need an account?

Yes — one, with a username and a PIN you choose. OurFold asks for it before the app opens, so if you lose or replace your phone your walk isn't gone with it.

Creating or restoring that account needs the internet once. After that OurFold opens offline every time. All we store is the username, a securely hashed PIN, a dated record that you accepted the terms, and two dates — when you last signed in, and the last day you opened the app.

Is my data private?

Your Bible reading, highlights, saved verses, prayers, journal, reading plans and calendar are stored on your device — not in a database of ours. There are no advertising SDKs and no third-party trackers in the app.

See Privacy for the full picture, including the small amount we do hold.

Which Bible translations are included?

Two public-domain translations, both complete and both offline: the World English Bible (WEB) and the King James Version (KJV). You can switch between them as you read.

Can OurFold read the Bible aloud with my screen locked?

Not yet. The read-aloud voice works while OurFold is open on screen, using your device's own voices at the pace and warmth you set. Reading that keeps going with the phone locked in your pocket needs the native Android app — it's written, and waiting on the Google Play release.

Is OurFold on Google Play or the App Store?

Not yet. Today you install it straight from this site — that works on Android, iPhone, iPad and desktop. A Google Play release is on the way.

Can I find a church in OurFold?

Not yet. The church finder searches OpenStreetMap for congregations near you, listed by denomination, and it sits behind its own consent step because it's the one part that looks something up online. It's marked in development in the app and isn't switched on.

Is there an AI assistant in OurFold?

Not yet. OurFold Assistant is a small language model that downloads once and then runs entirely on your phone — so a question about where to read, or how to pray through something hard, is never sent to somebody's server. It's in development and will arrive with the Android app.

How do I move OurFold to a new phone?

Use Back up your journey in the app — it saves your prayers, journal, plans and highlights to a file you keep yourself. Install OurFold on the new phone, sign in with the same username and PIN, and restore that file. Nothing goes through a cloud of ours.

Can our church use OurFold?

Your members can use the personal side today, free — that part is finished and offline. The connected congregation features (a shared prayer wall, board, directory and calendar) are still in development, and we'd like churches to help shape them. See OurFold for churches.

How is OurFold paid for, and can I support it?

There are no ads and nothing of yours is sold, so OurFold is carried by the people who choose to give — a one-off gift on Ko-fi, any amount. Giving unlocks nothing: every feature is free to everyone either way, and there'll be no paid tier. OurFold is made by Debe Corporation, a company rather than a registered charity, so a gift is a gift and not tax-deductible. Installing OurFold and mentioning it at your church help just as much, and cost nothing.

Something's broken — how do I get help?

Start with Help & contact: installing, a forgotten PIN, moving to a new phone, read-aloud and updates are all answered there. If none of it fits, write to hello@ourfold.net and a person will read it.

Ready when you are.

Free, private, and offline from the moment it's installed.
